Alpaca – clothes that bring hope!

The town of Huaraz in Peru, at more than 3000 meters above sea level
in the Andes, is well known for their alpaca animals whose wool is famous for its
excellent quality and its exclusively warming qualities. In 2003 a workshop was started by
four women who wanted to improve their living conditions. They received some aid to buy a
weaving machine and a sewing machine. Over the years they´ve been able to acquire more
machines and now the workshop employs approximately 22 women who
weave fine alpaca fibres at a high standard.
Working conditions and wages are fair-trade, which
means that the women can improve their working and living conditions.
The workshop is also part of a larger project with children's homes, a School,
soup kitchen, and health care. The garments they make in alpaca wool
are soft, warm and beautiful and of very high quality.

Right now we are waiting for our next

cozy garment in 100% alpaca!
